What Lies Beneath...

My entry for 's contest.

The often-in-peril Crimson Dynamo had no idea how she ended up in this latest predicament. She was investigating the strange noises coming from this building when she was suddenly attacked from behind and felt a heavy object strike the back of her head, knocking her out. When she woke from her abrupt slumber, she realized she had been captured and locked in a small empty room, except for a large sliding hatch in the floor. Her belt had also been removed, no doubt as a precaution in case she had any tools to provide an escape.

"You were so curious about the noises that I thought you can get a close and personal view at the source... enjoy."

An unfamiliar voice spoke that one sentence to Crimson before leaving her again in silence. Seconds later, the hatch began to slide open in front of the captive heroine, the sounds she came to investigate growing louder and louder. Fear began to overtake Crimson, not as much from the strange noises as the pair of glowing orange eyes that stared back at her while the hatch opened wider and wider...
